Frequently Asked Questions

Can anyone be hypnotized?

Yes, anyone can be hypnotized as long as they want to be and have an ability to concentrate. Hypnosis is not appropriate for very young children or people with certain mental disabilities. A hypnotherapist can not force you to go into hypnosis against your will.

Is hypnosis real?

Yes! Studies which measure brain activity have shown that hypnosis and hypnotic suggestions alter the way that the brain processes information. Randomized controlled clinical trials have shown that hypnosis can be an effective treatment for pain, and an effective part of treatments for other conditions.

Is hypnosis ever a one-session "quick fix" for a problem?

It can be.  The answer to this will depend a lot on what "the problem'" is.  We have many programs to fit your needs.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of required sessions depends on the issue. Sometimes it’s a quick fix with just few sessions but some issues will require several sessions. I will help you in the minimum number of sessions possible.

Can hypnosis make me do things I don’t want to do?

No, you can’t be made to do anything you don’t want to do in hypnosis.  You retain control over your ability to act upon suggestions.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Hypnosis feels very much like daydreaming.

Can I get stuck in hypnosis?

There is no evidence that anyone can become stuck in hypnosis.

Do you diagnose illnesses?

No, all diagnoses should be conducted by your primary doctor.

Do you conduct sessions over the telephone?

Yes.  Hypnosis can be very effective over the phone.
